Lionel Billings
Mr. Lionel Billings is a 53 year old man who resides in a poor urban neighborhood in Florida. Lionel is missing one leg and uses a wheelchair to get around. His personal care worker is his daughter, who works five days a week, helping Lionel clean, shop, and prepare meals. Lionel is glad to be a participant of the Consumer-Directed Care program because he feels that it fosters communication between him and his daughter. Since his daughter is his care worker, she feels better knowing that his needs are properly met. Lionel feels that an agency worker can not be trusted in the same way as a family member. Since he has participated in the program, he is content to trust his care with his family. He is happy to not only have increased contact with his daughter, but also enjoys when she brings his granddaughter for frequent visits to keep him company.
